  1. Ok that last meet Kathy was a test. Yes, it is true I am one of the school nurses at Spaulding High school.
I have lived in Barre now for 6 years. It is the longest place I have lived any where in the last 26 years. My husband was in the Navy for 23 the years so we spent all those years moving every 2 to 3 years.
I have two daughters, Sarah is my oldest and is at Norwich University in her first year, as a civilian. Anna is my youngest who is a juinor at Spaulding High School. She is very active in many sports but her strength is Field Hockey.
I love to read, run, cook, knitt, snow shoe, down hill ski and shopping!

  2. The stickiness factor may most apply in my line of work, by using analogies or stories to impress upon the student the importance of a healthy and safe life style.
I often have to "teach" the importance of having health insurance, as so many of our students do not see why or how it will impact their lives if they do not have health insurance, once they are out of high school.
Stories often seem to be the best way of getting the message across.

  3. I used to watch the Field Hockey Teams in the past when I taught @ SHS. They invited me to a coupla's practices. I saw them win two DI State Championships. Big Fan!

Stories are so important in this line of work. Ever read Teacher Man by Frank McCourt? Good story. All about lasting impact on students by story telling in teaching.
